A year and a half ago what was supposed to be one of the best moments of a mother’s life, the birth of her baby, began the nightmare that she has grown accustomed to as her day to day norm. The baby was born with a life-threatening severe brain bleed that required immediate intervention. Besides the unimaginable damage that this caused, there were severe episodes of apnea, resulting in the continual use of a ventilator.

To make matters worse, this double Yesoma mother was involved in a bad motor vehicle accident which resulted in a broken spine that left her handicapped and necessitated the use of a wheelchair. She was unable to keep her job which was her source of income and she is alone, with no family to help her.

Her baby desperately needs lifesaving treatment that is not covered by insurance. This is in addition to the ever-piling medical expenses that she has on a constant basis. She also needs the basic daily expenses like food, rent, and utilities.

I remember the terrible incident at Meron where many innocent people lost their lives. The families of those who were Niftar went through a very distressing time. They made phone calls hoping for answers, but they received the terrible news from the authorities that their loved ones hadn’t made it.

Among the 45 people who were Niftar was a young father who had a newborn daughter. This event made everyone in our community very sad. Only eight months later, the father of the young man who was Niftar in Meron, a leader in our community, couldn’t handle the pressure of taking care of his other children, his daughter-in-law, and his granddaughter. He was Niftar also.

WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF THE ALMANOS AND YESOMIM?

This double tragedy left behind many children who lost their fathers, including a baby girl, and two widows. Now, these widows, children, and the baby girl feel very sad and have lots of bills and other expenses to take care of, including getting the youngest daughter married.

As time goes by, their problems get bigger, and they owe more money. That’s why it’s important for us to help them. We have a responsibility not to leave anyone behind.

This is a chance for us to help and do a great Chesed by supporting the widows and children. It’s a way to fulfill the Mitzvah of Hochnosas Kallah of a Yesoma. As it says, if we take care of Hashem’s children, He will take care of us and our children.

The mother of five young children returned to her maker after four and a half years of being tortured by Machla. At the time of her passing, four of the children were under the age of 9. The father, who was in Kiruv, did the best he could to keep a stable home and a Simchadig house for his children.

Unfortunately, the loss of his wife and the loss of her income were too much for him to handle. During this time, he managed to marry off two of his children. As time went on, their financial situation deteriorated to a critical level.

I’ve watched my son grow, surrounded by doctors and treatments since the age of three months. It became clear that my child is different from other kids. He’s the only child that we have. My spouse and I dream of expanding our family, but it worries me. What example will he set? A child dealing with challenges? Connected to medical devices? A child who has been the center of our lives since birth?

There’s one treatment that can change everything for him, to remove this illness that unexpectedly developed near his heart. The number of medications that he takes daily exceeds what many geriatric patients take. The upcoming surgery is our best hope—it’s not just about my son’s life but also about our family’s future.

I believe that if the surgery goes well, he can have a normal life, just like any other child. But the cost is overwhelming—surgery, hospital stay, recovery, medications, and constant care.

All my son needs is surgery around his heart to eliminate this illness. It’s crucial to have this done and recover before he turns one year old. The process leading up to the surgery takes about a week, followed by at least two months in the hospital for recovery, maybe even longer.

Please, don’t let my son’s life be in jeopardy. Help us give him a chance to live. Assist us in affording the necessary surgery, treatment, medications, and everything he needs to get better.
